JAMMU, Aug 9: Jammu Blues girls trounced Jammu Reds by solitary goal in Hockey match, whereas in boys’ category, the match ended with 3-3 draw between Bandhu Rakh Hockey Club and MBS Simbal, being played at Green Field Gandhi Nagar in connection with Independence Day Sports Week, here today.
Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan lauded the performance of both men and women national teams who represented the country in recently concluded Tokyo-2020 Olympics held in Japan and congratulated the men’s team for securing a bronze medal.
Advisor Khan expressed hope that the players of J&K Hockey teams will also perform with the same zeal at both national and international levels whenever they get opportunity.
In boys match, Bandu Rakh scored three goals wherein Kirandeep Singh netted a goal for of his team in the 7th minute, whereas Ajit Singh bagged two goals in the 39th and 47th minutes of the game, besides for MBS Simbal, Tarminder Singh scored goal in the 15 minute of the game, while Navjot Singh and Sukhpreet Singh netted one each goal at 15th and 22nd minutes of the game respectively.
The tournament is being organised under the supervision of Dr Zafar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and officials of the J&K Hockey Association.
Later, Hockey sticks were distributed among the teams by Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, whereas SP Singh, Satish Gupta & Satish Chopra were also present during the event.
