Jammu boys become U-19 Volleyball champions

Kathua District Volleyball team players receiving runners-up trophy from the chief guest, I D Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts & Guides at Youth Hostel Nagrota on Tuesday.

JAMMU, Sept 18: Registering a big win over District Kathua boys in the summit clash, the Jammu District boys lifted the title trophy and became the champions in the Divisional Level Inter-District Under-19 boys Volleyball Tournament, which concluded at Youth Hostel Nagrota, near here today.
I D Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides was the chief guest on the occasion, while M M Joshi, retired Wing Commander and Zonal Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides was the guest of honour. Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, in the title clash, superb display of smashing and lifting skills by Anil and Aman, Jammu District outplayed Kathua by (3-1) with (25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-19).
In the semifinals, Jammu trounced Reasi by (25-23, 18-25 and 25-21), while Kathua drubbed Udhampur in two straight sets by (25-23, 25-22). Deepak and Amit were the star performers for Kathua.
The matches were officiated by Tarseem Singh, Ravan Gupta, Milak Raj, Anju Gupta and Jagjeet Singh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Manorama Sharma, Sarita Pandha, Pushpa Sharma, Jeet Singh, Sher Singh, Jaswant Singh, Rakesh Kakar, Rattan Lal, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Ravinder Singh and Varinder Sharma.
