udhampur, Sept 13: Getting better of the Udhampur District convincingly in the summit clash, Jammu District boys lifted the title trophy of the Divisional Level Inter-District Under-19 boys Cricket Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Sports Stadium, Udhampur.
The Tournament was organized under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur, Sudesh Chalotra.
Earlier, in the final match, batting first, District Jammu scored a decent total of 152 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Raghav Sharma was the top scorer with 41 runs, while Samad hit power-packed 27 runs off 9 balls and Aryan Dogra contributed 22 runs to the total. Kanan was the pick of the bowlers from Udhampur District who scalped 4 important wickets.
In reply, Udhampur District managed to score 110 runs to lose the match by 42 runs. Kanan top scored with 31 runs, while Rishab Sharma contributed 29 runs to the total. From Jammu District, Marutwan took 3 wickets, while Harman Singh and Sampark Gupta claimed 2 wickets each. Satpal Singh and Rakesh Choudhary were coach and manager of Jammu district team.
SSP Udhampur, Rayees Ahmed Bhat was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Additional SP Udhampur Mr Qureshi was the guest of honour. The chief guest along with other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and the runners-up teams on the occasion.
Meanwhile, at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium in Jammu, in the Inter-School Hockey Under-19 years boys tournament,New National Higher Secondary School beat Bikram Higher Secondary School by 1-0 goal; APS Miran Sahib defeated APS Jammu Cantt by 3-0 goals; New National Higher Secondary School prevailed over GHSS Gandhi Nagar by 2-0 goals and APS Miran Sahib drubbed APS Kalu Chak by 3-2 goals.
The Tournament was held under the overall supervision of Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu.
