JAMMU, Mar 9: Jammu district bagged the overall trophy in Youth and Junior category while seniors title trophy went to J&K Police in the two-day J&K Weightlifting Championship which concluded today under the banner of J&K Weightlifting Association at Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Complex, here today.
The overall runners-up trophy in Youth and Junior age groups went to district Srinagar while Samba and Kathua districts performed well to be acknowledged by the organisers.
Earlier, Jammu district secured highest around 700 points in both men and women sections while Srinagar earned 326. Similarly, J&K Police team had highest 246 points in senior category.
In the finals and prize distribution function, president of the J&K Olympic Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma was chief guest, who along with guest of honour, Vinod Sachdeva, MD Electrified Industries presented medals and title trophies.
Ashutosh Sharma while speaking to the lifters appreciated their performance and encouraged them to give improved performance at the National level events.
The competition officiated by the technical penal comprised Dheeraj Sharma, Amit Kaushal, Kulbir Slathia, Mushtaq, Showkat, Dayal Singh, Munish Charak and Lakhwinder Gill.
This championship was sponsored by the J&K Sports Council (JKSC).
