Jammu District Kho-Kho C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Nov 16: Jammu District Kho-Kho Champi-onship for Boys and Girls, being organized by J&K State Kho-Kho Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council got underway at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
12 teams in boys section and 8 teams in girls section are participating in this tournament which is being played on league-cum-knockout basis.
S Harbans Singh, former Sports Minister was the chief guest on the occasion, who appreciated organizers for conducting the event and providing opportunity to budding athletes to display their skill.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were BS Thirthi, secretary Kho-Kho Association; Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, secretary Kabaddi Association; Manjeet Singh, secretary Korfball Asociation, Ram Kumar Sharma, Anil Modi, Dinesh Gupta, Anil Kumar, Suresh Kumar and Gurmeet Singh.
Earlier, SAI Club drubbed Diamond Club by one innings and 4 points, Striker Club trounced HS Ghorota by innings and 2 points, RCB outplayed SOS School by 5 points, Diamond got better of Vidya Mandir School by 12 points, Striker prevailed over RCB by 10 points, HS Gharota outclassed Shiksha Niketan by 10 points, Diamond Club scripted a narrow win over KV Miran Sahib by 1 point and RCB defeated KV Miran Sahib by 2 points.
Meanwhile in girls section, SOS School got better of Shiksha Niketan School in a close contest by 1 point.
The matches were officiated by Gagan Kumar, Deepak, Anil Kumar, Jaswinder Singh, Mohinder Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Ankush, Bindu Malhotra, Heena Bagal, Raman Kumar, Vishal, Suyas Singh and Deepankur Gupta.
