29JAMMU, Mar 28: The Jammu District Open Lawn Tennis Championship 2024-25 continued today with an exciting array of matches, as players battled it out in the semifinals and finals across various age categories.
In the first semifinal of the Under-18 (Boys Singles) Hardeep Singh Soodan defeated Madhavendra Singh with a dominant scoreline of 9-4. In the second semifinal, Saksham Amla triumphed over K. Prithviraj, securing a 9-5 victory to book his place in the final.
While final of the Under-18 Boys Doubles was a thrilling affair, with Abhirath Thappa and K. Prithviraj emerging victorious in a nail-biting contest against Saksham Amla and Vinamr Gupta. The match saw a remarkable comeback, with the final score reading 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (10-6), as Thappa and Prithviraj clinched the win in a tiebreaker.
In the Under-14 Boys Doubles, the duo of Nakul Mehra and Prithvi Sharma proved too strong for Piyush Kumar and Manjot Singh, defeating them 9-3 to capture the title. The first semifinal in the Under-12 Boys Singles saw Khushaansh Magotra beat Ayank Jaiswal 7-2, while Prithvi Sharma emerged victorious in the second semifinal, overcoming Piyush Kumar with a score of 7-4.
In a well-fought final, Prithvi Sharma defeated Khushaansh Magotra 8-4 to win the Under-12 Boys Singles title, displaying great resilience and technique on the court. The Under-12 Boys Doubles final was a one-sided affair, with Piyush Kumar and Prithvi Sharma overpowering Ayank Jaiswal and Pavish Gupta by 7-0 to clinch the title. The Under-18 Girls Doubles final saw Ridhya Gupta and Yamini Sharma narrowly edge out Arushi Kumari and Simran Kumari, winning by 7-5 in a highly competitive match.
In the Under-14 Girls Singles, Anandita Gurung emerged as the champion, defeating Ridhya Gupta with a convincing score of 7-1. The doubles event in the Under-14 Girls category saw Anandita Gurung and Arushi Kumari take the title, defeating Ridhya Gupta and Sanvi Sambyal by 7-1 in a dominant performance.
The final of the Under-12 Girls Singles saw Sarah Mahajan put on an impressive display, defeating Zainab Zaman Wani by 6-0 to claim the title.
In the Under-12 Girls Doubles, Sarah Mahajan and Nikandani Vaid defeated Zainab Zaman Wani and Wani Areena by 6-4 to take home the championship.
