JAMMU, Jan 24: Jammu District Yoga competition concluded with eight winners making it to the State Level competition.
The competition was organized by the Yoga Society J&K-Patanjali Yogpeeth in association with Indian Yoga Association. Those who made it to the State Level competition in individual categories were Nandani, MHAC Nagbani in Jr Girls; Himanshu Verma, MHAC Nagbani in Jr boys; Anadhiya, Jodhamal School, Sr Girls and Tarun in senior boys.
Four groups which stood first in Group performance categories included MHAC Nagbani in Jr boys; Jammu University in senior boys, MHAC Nagbani in Jr girls, Jammu University in senior girls.
The certificates to winners and runners-up were given by the chief guest, Chander Mohan, Mayor JMC; guest of honour, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, Jammu University along with special guests ID Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides and Harbans Singh, Chairman Shri Guru Gobind Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
The chief guest lauded the efforts of core team of Yoga Society and Indian Yoga Association, especially Mahamantri Bansi Lal, IYA Chairman Shreyansh Jain, Sudha Chander Organising Secretary, Anil Swaraj -Secretary IYA and Advocate Chander Mohan, Sangrakshak IYA, and several other members to make this event happen at such a large scale and mobilizing such a huge participation of more than 300 Yoga aspirants from more than fifteen institutions.
All these winners have qualified for the State level competition to be held on February 18, the birth anniversary of Mahrishi Dayanand Saraswati to be followed by nationals at New Delhi in April 2020.
The judges of the competition included Shreyansh Jain, Anil Gupta (Swaraj), Dr Sujata, Sunil Chakharia, Brij Bhushan, Renu Thappar and Angrez Singh.
Meenakshi Bhat and Rajni Saini were scorer and registration in-charge respectively.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Raj Guru, Roshan Lal, Dheeraj Singh Rakwal, Yash Pal, Dev Yog Raj, Nag Singh, Prem Lata, Shashi Pal Sharma, Surksha, Priyanka Bhat, Darshana Sharma, Vishal Bhat and Rajni Devi.
