Jammu emerges overall champion in Speedball

GANDERBAL, June 13: The first of its kind tournament in Kashmir, the State Level Speedball Championship organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, with technical support of Jammu and Kashmir Speedball Association, concluded here today.
The technical officials of the association were Sahil Janjua, Ankit Sharma, Manika Sharma and Sakshi Vaid.
The championship was held in boys and girls groups for Under-17 and Under-14 categories.
About 150 participants from 8 districts of Jammu division and 2 districts of Kashmir division took part in this 3-day long event held in College of Physical Education Ganderbal.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Paramveer Singh was the chief guest and Dr Hartej Singh, Principal COPE was the guest of honour, who later-on distributed medals, trophies and certificates among the players and officials.
Jammu bagged the overall championship with maximum number of gold medals, while Ganderbal claimed runners-up trophy.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ganderbal, Haji Noor-ul-Haque Andrabi was also present on the occasion.
Result: Under-17 singles boys: Gurmantjeet Singh (Jammu), Shubham Khajuria (Kathua), Rakesh Sharma (Udhampur) bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in Under-17 singles girls, Sugandh (Jammu),  Sunia Jaan (Ganderbal) and Rita (Udhampur) claimed the first three positions respectively.
