Winners of JKCA Premier League honoured

JAMMU, Sept 6: In an impressive, well attended and colourful function, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) JKCA, Ashiq Hussain Bukhari inaugurated the Under-19 boys coaching/selection Camp and distributed prizes as a chief guest among the winners and runners-up teams of the prestigious JKCA Premier Championship at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
SSP Security, Ashok Sharma; SSP Traffic, Joginder Singh; former Chairman JKCA, Romesh Mahajan and Advisor Sports Lakshadweep Government, Ranjeet Kalra were the guests of honour.
Earlier, former Judge and Member JKCA, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, under whose supervision the function was held, presented welcome address and gave brief report of the Championship.
He said Jammu District Tournament Committee organised three tournaments viz JKCA Premier Championship (Seniors), Under-16 players, besides Akhnoor Tehsil Tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bukhari said that the International Cricket Stadium at Bajalta in the outskirts of Jammu City will be developed very soon as the flagging and demarcation of 575 Kanals of land has already been done at the site of the Stadium.
Lavishing praise on Jang Bahadur, Mr Bukhari while referring to the development of the Stadium said that Jang has played a pivotal role in making this ‘dream come true’ for the entire cricketing fraternity of the State.
Giving details of JKCA Premier Championship, Bukhari said that around 50,000 cricketers drawn from across the State participated in this League, adding that the tournament was held for the first time even in the high altitude area of Ladakh.
He further said that in sports and games, losing teaches one to win.
Earlier, Mr Kalra addressed the gathering and appreciated the role of CEO and JKCA members Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal and Sham Saroop Kalsotra for their fabulous job in holding the tournaments across the State.
The teams which were felicitated included KCCC Seniors and Juniors, besides Vishal Rising Stars and National Cricket Club. Bandeep Singh, Tanmay Slathia, Udhay Partap Singh and Nityam Abrol were presented special prizes.
It is pertinent to mention here that KCCC was the winner of the Jammu District JKCA Premier Championship, while NCC was the runners-up. In Juniors, Vishal Rising Stars was the winner, while KCCC Junior was the runners-up.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sham Saroop Kalsotra, Ankush Abrol, JKCA Working Committee Member and mentor of KCCC, besides the Organising Committee Members including Rajesh Gill, Rajesh Dhar, Vijay Sharma, Vijay Saberwal, Harsh Nayyar and Sachin Singh.
