JAMMU, Oct 5: Outplaying Rajasthan Pink XI by 31 runs in a summit clash, Jammu Greens XI lifted the title trophy of the JKP Women T20 Cricket Cup at Gulshan Ground, here today.
The Tournament was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department under the supervision of IGP Jammu for the promotion of women cricketers, while the other committee members include Mohan Lal SSP Traffic, Ashok Sharma SO to IGP Jammu, Sanjeev Khajuria SSP, Parshotam Sharma DDP RPHQ, Hilal Rather, Rajesh Dhar, Sunil Sambyal, Vivek Sharma, RP Singh, Inspector Shakti Sharma and Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Trophy player, organizing secretary of the Tournament.
Danesh Rana, IGP Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Uttam Chand SSP Jammu was the guest of honour. Uday Baskar, SP South and Vivek Shekhar, DySP Hqrs were the special guests on the occasion.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners up teams.
In his address, IGP Jammu lavished praise for the organizing team for conducting the mega cricket event for the women cricketers with an objective to provide opportunity to them for playing with the national cricketers of other States to hone their skill.
He also congratulated the winning team of Jammu Greens and other teams from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh for participating in JKP Women T20 Cricket Tournament and showcasing excellent talent.
Mr Rana further said that J&K Police is regularly conducting sports activities in different sports throughout the State and is promoting women sports for their upliftment., adding that Police will organize more and more cricket tournaments in the State.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Jammu Greens XI won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 131 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.  Sarla top scored with 37 runs, while Jaspreet and Meenu contributed 31 and 28 runs each to the total. For Rajasthan Pinks, Zaikia took 2 wickets and Babita claimed one.
In reply, Rajasthan Pink XI got bundled out for 99 runs in 19 overs. Babita top scored with 42 runs, while Puja made 22 runs. For Jammu Greens XI, Sandhaya took 4 wickets, while Sarla and Payal shared 2 wickets each. Thus Jammu Greens won the match by 31 runs.
Sarla was adjudged as woman of the match in final, Babita of Rajasthan Pink XI won the woman of the series award, while Sanjana of Jammu Reds XI was presented emerging talent award.
Coach of Jammu Greens XI, Veena Sharma presented cash award of Rs 1000 each to Sarla and Sanjana for their fabulous show in the Tournament.
The matches of the league were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod.
The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by anchors Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh while Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary presented vote of thanks.
