Jammu outplays Kashmir in tennis ball cricket, badminton

JAMMU, Nov 26: Jammu division defeated Kashmir division in Inter-Division Under-19 boys tennis ball cricket and in Under-14, 17 and 19 boys badminton tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, here.
Earlier, in first match of Under-19 boys tennis cricket, Jammu drubbed Kashmir by 19 runs. Batting first, Jammu scored 63 runs in allotted 8 overs. Henan was the top scorer with 32 runs off 20 balls. Kashmir division, in reply bundled out for 44 runs, with Amir scoring 14 runs. Ehsaan took one wicket for Kashmir, while Mohit captured 3 wickets for Kashmir.
In another match, Jammu trounced Kashmir division by 4 wickets. Batting first Kashmir division scored 47 runs in 8 overs. Amir scored 26 runs, while in reply, Jammu rode on a magnificent 25 runs by Henan to reach the target in 7.4 overs.
Sultan Sikander bagged 4 wickets for Jammu, while Ishfaq took 2 wickets for Jammu.
Meanwhile, in badminton Under-14 boys, Jammu defeated Kashmir by (2-0). In singles event, DS Shubam trounced Adnan Ishfaq by (21-12, 21-15), while in doubles, DS Shubam and Akhil trounced Adnan Ishfaq and Amir Ishfaq by (19-21, 21-14, 21-19).
In badminton Under-17 boys, Jammu defeated Kashmir by (2-0) with Divam Gupta getting better of Nasir Bhat by (21-3, 21-4) in singles event, while in doubles, Parth and Nalin prevailed upon Yawar Ali and Nabeel by (19-2, 21-9).
Jammu division defeated Kashmir division in badminton Under-19 boys also. Aditya beat Ahmed Ali by (21-9, 21-17) in singles event, while in doubles, DS Shivam and Vikram defeated Syed Gulfam and Abdul Ali by (19-12, 21-13).
In badminton Under-14 girls, Jammu division drubbed Kashmir division by (2-0), with Naman Mansotra defeating Zarnaib by (21-1, 21-5) in singles, while in doubles, Naman and Amisheeka trounced Vashrari and Nelofar by (21-5, 21-6).
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu in a simple function. Director Youth Services and Sports, Jaipal Singh made a surprise visit to the venue along with the Deputy Director, Jammu Ashok Kumar to inspect the arrangements.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jeet Singh, Anju Gupta, Anju Bala, Jagtar Singh, Suresh Singh, Satika Sharma, Anamika Khajuria, Mukesh Sharma, Gurbachan Singh, Varinder Sharma, Ravish Vaid, Sanjay Khajuria, Rekha Ratra and Sadiq Hussain Malik.
