Jammu Reds wins Manjeet Memorial Hockey Championship

POONCH, June 13: Toppling equally balanced side of 21st Bihar Regiment in a tough contest by two goals to one (2-1) in the summit clash, Jammu Reds lifted the title trophy of the of the 1st Shaheed Dy SP Manjeet Singh Memorial Hockey Championship, which concluded at Higher Secondary School ground, here today.
Jammu Reds boys displayed exceptional skill and talent and showed sharp reflexes and anticipation when it mattered the most, for which 21st Bihar Regiment players had no answer to lose the match despite giving their best. Matinder Pal Singh was adjudged as best player of the tournament.
Hockey J&K Secretary, Mahinder Kour, witnessed the match and was all praise for Manjeet Singh Volleyball Club for successful hosting of Hockey Championship in Poonch.
Earlier, Mohd Tariq Khan, Organizing Secretary of this Championship along with Matinder Pal Singh, NIS Hockey Coach gave brief detail of the tournament.
SP Poonch, Shamsher Hussain was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who presented the awards to the winner and runner up team and members of organizing committee.
The matches were officiated by Kulwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Pushkar Raj and Ruchika Sharma.
