Jammu sizzles at 40.7 degrees

JAMMU, May 15: The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir today recorded season’s another hottest day and there is no respite from the heat wave as  maximum temperature today recorded was 40.7 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature was today recorded 40.7 degree Celsius and the minimum was 26.8 degree Celsius. “The temperature in the last days fluctuated between 33 degrees to 38 degrees (maximum) and 23 degrees to 26 degrees (minimum) due to brief spell of showers,” a weatherman here said.
Earlier, Jammu witnessed season’s hottest day with maximum temperature 41.7 degrees while previously also the maximum temperature recorded was 41.2 and 39.2 degree Celsius. The weatherman however, predicted light rain and thundershowers and Maximum and Minimum temperatures will be around 36 degrees C and 25 degrees C respectively.
Meanwhile, doctors have advised people to stay indoors and increase water intake to prevent themselves from dehydration. They also advised riders to cover their face, wear full sleeve outfits and wear helmets to protect from sun burns and heat strokes.
A group of school children today also fell unconscious due to heat stroke and rushed to the hospital.  (UNI)
