Jammu women become first to summit Hansraj peak

RAMBAN, Oct 3: The two female from Jammu, Shilpa Chaku Handoo and Princy Jain Bansal had summitted Hansraj Top, the second-highest peak on the Pir Panjal Range in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district. They claimed to become the first to do so.
Shilpa Chaku Handoo is a placement officer in University of Jammu, Mrs India Universe and Ultra Runner while Princy Jain Bansal is an entrepreneur and Ultra Runner. They were part of a three-day trekking expedition which was organised by Indian Army, in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department organised in Ramban where 14 male and two females participated. These trekkers moved a distance of 19 kilometres and successfully submitted the second-highest peak (Hansraj Top) on the Pir Panjal Range.
“It was a tough journey for us but we were determined to overcome the obstacles. The only message to aspiring women is to believe in themselves, if I can do it at age of 39, then they can also do that.” Shilpa said by adding, “Life is a precious gift that we are given, and it’s up to us to make the most of it.”
