KATRA, Apr 13: Wrestler Ishaq (Lalu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu lifted 25th Dera Kesari 2016 title by defeating Wrestler Mohd Nisar of Doda of J&K Police in a very tough fight that lasted for 13 minutes at Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in Reasi.
Dangal was organized by Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Prabandhak Committee, Baba Banda Bahadur Sikh Samardi in Association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of its president, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Pal Singh Sodhi (Gaddinasheen).
Tehsildar Reasi Shesh Pal Salgotra was the chief guest who distributed Cash Prizes among the winners and runners-up Wrestlers. Joint Secretary J&K State sports Council, who is also Treasurer Indian Style wrestling Association of India and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra presided over the function. SHO Reasi, Daleep Singh and Naib Tehsildar Mohd Sadiq were the guests of honour. Sapanch Mohd. Sharif Vetern Wrestler Karam Din and Nadeem were also present on the occasion.
In all 30 bouts were played in the one day long Dangal and Rs 1, 05,000/- has been incurred in the said Dangal. Winner of 1st malli bout Ishaq (Lalu) was awarded with cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with traditional “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” by Baba Jatinder Pal Singh Sodhi, Shesh Pal Salgotra and Shiv Kumar Sharma while runner-up Wrestler Nisar was given Rs 4,000 by SHO Daleep Singh and VP Maker.
