Jammu zone faces Gandhi Nagar in U-14 cricket final today

JAMMU, May 7: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the semifinals, the zones of Jammu and Gandhi Nagar have qualified for the finals of the ongoing District Level Inter-Zonal Under-14 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at KC Public School ground, here.
In the first semifinal, Jammu zone outplayed Miran Sahib by 9 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Miran Sahib scored 58 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Sachin top scored with 15 runs. For Jammu, Musaif Ajaz and Abhay Tandon took 2 wickets each by conceding 15 and 7 runs in 3 overs respectively, while Praful Dhar took 1 wickets by giving away 9 runs in his 3 overs.
In reply, Jammu zone chased the target in 7.5 overs by losing one wicket. Skipper Musaif Ajaz took scored unbeaten 18 runs, while Rohan Gill contributed 15 runs to the total. For Miran Sahib, Manish took the lone wicket to fall.
In another semifinal, Gandhi Nagar zone defeated Satwari zone by 16 runs. Batting first, Gandhi Nagar scored 74 runs in the stipulated 12 overs.  Dawwod Ibrahim top scored with 32 runs. For Satwari zone, Aditya and Karmanya took one wicket each.
In reply, Satwari zone managed to score 58 runs to lose the match by 16 runs. Left-arm spinner Nalin Singh wrecked havoc by bagging 4 important wickets, with a hat-trick, while skipper Jugjap Singh claimed 2 wickets.
Now Jammu zone will face Gandhi Nagar zone in the final at the same venue tomorrow.
