JAMMU, Apr 30: The sports fraternity of the City of Temples will feel the aroma of IPL as the final match of the Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) will be held at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here tomorrow.
The inclement weather conditions have forced the organizers to reschedule the two semifinals for tomorrow, which otherwise were to be played today.
According to the organizers these matches will begin simultaneously at 8:30 in the morning-one at GGM Science College venue and another at KC Sports Club ground, Jammu. These semifinal matches will be followed by the final from 2:30 pm at Science College ground.
“Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh and Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar, chairman of the Tournament will grace the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour respectively and will distribute cash prizes worth Rs 20 lakh among the teams and the players,” informed Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of the Tournament.
In the semifinal battles, BCC Bulls will take on Chenab Gas Royals, while Simula Superstars will lock horns with Jammu Khalsa Tigers.
The winners will get a cash award of Rs 5 lakh, while the runners-up will receive Rs 3 lakh as cash prize. The team which will be placed at number three spot will get Rs 2 lakh and the fourth placed team will receive Rs 1.5 lakh as the cash award.
There is a galaxy of players, who are waiting in the wings to bag prestigious man of the final, best batsman and best bowler awards to be presented to them by the dignitaries in the concluding ceremony.
All the four teams in the semifinals, possess some star cricketers of the State, so it will be a delight to watch them deliver for their sides in the crunch games, especially in the finals.
While Jammu Khalsa Kings XI have the likes of Ramdayal, Manik Gupta and Parveen Singh, Simula Superstars will be having the services of experienced campaigners in Dhruv Mahajan, Hardeep Singh and Sameer Khajuria.
On the other hand, Chenab Gas Royals, apart from other players will bank on the players like Bandeep Singh, Vimarsh Kaw, Sahil Bhalwal and Pardeep Bali, while BCC Bulls have the services of Imran Haroon, Ahmer Ikhlaq, Satish Kumar and Rompy Sharma. It will be the test of nerves for all the players as there will be the battle of equals in the last four stage.
