JAMMU, Oct 24: In the inaugural edition of the International Kashmir Marathon, Manminder Kaur and Anuradha Sharma from Jammu delivered outstanding performances in the Half Marathon category. Manminder Kaur clinched first place in the above 50 years age group for females, completing the race in 1 hour, 47 minutes, and 17 seconds. Anuradha secured third place in the 35 to 50 years age group for females with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 26 seconds.
The marathon featured two race categories: Full Marathon (42.2 km) and Half Marathon (21.1 km), attracting over 1,700 participants, including many foreign athletes. A strong contingent of runners from Jammu excelled in both categories, achieving personal best times.
In the Half Marathon, notable performances included Shahida Parveen and Dr. Kuljit Kaur, who finished fourth and eighth, respectively, in the 35 to 50 years age group for females. Rekha Katoch ranked sixth in the above 50 (female) age group. Among males, Surinder Choudhary ranked ninth in the above 50 age group.
In the Full Marathon, Tina Sahi ranked eighth in the 35 to 50 years age group, while Seema Kharyal finished fifth in the above 50 age group. Vijay Sharma ranked tenth in the 35 to 50 years age group for males, and Ram Raj ranked fourth in the over 50 (male) age group. Sudhir Anand, an educator and dedicated runner from Jammu, completed the full marathon distance in 4 hours.
