JAMMU, Mar 25: The final match of the Anti-Drug Veteran Cricket League, organized by Ludhiana Brothers in collaboration with Team Jammu, was held today between Jandyal Cricket Club and Evershine Cricket Club. Jandyal Cricket Club emerged victorious, winning by 3 wickets.
Evershine Cricket Club batted first, setting a target of 134/7 in 20 overs. Manjeet contributed 36 runs, and Vijay Dogra added 28 runs. In response, Jandyal Cricket Club chased down the target in 19.4 overs, scoring 135/7. Sashi Kumar led the charge with 49 runs, while Atul made 21 runs. On the bowling side, Ravinder took 4 wickets, Akash claimed 2 wickets, and Vijay took 1 wicket for Evershine.
Sashi Kumar was named Player of the Match and also earned the title of Best Batsman of the Tournament. Ravinder was awarded Best Bowler and Vijay Dogra was named the Man of the Tournament.
The winning team was awarded Rs 1 lakh, while the runner-up received Rs 31,000. MLA Chenani, Balwant Singh Mankotia, was the guest of honour during the occasion. He urged youngsters to stay away from drugs and focus on sports and fitness, emphasizing that sports can help channelize the energy of youth in a positive direction. Zorawar Singh echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of creating a drug-free society.
