JAMMU, Nov 11: Jammu Adventure Sports Club (JASC) honoured and flagged off Aditya Mehta, an epitome of the spirit of adventure in an impressive function at Green Fields School, here today.
It is pertinent to mention here that despite losing a leg in an accident, Aditya, a silver medalist in Asian Para Cycling Championship-2013, is cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Aditya has the distinction of winning 2 silver medals for India at Para Asian Cycling Championship, The Limca Book of Records (2013 Edition) for completing 100km with an artificial leg in 5 and a half hours, Hyderabad to Bangalore (540KM) in 3 days and London to Paris 520 km 9000 ft. climb in 3 days.
In the last 18 months he rode approx. 21,000 kilometers.
While welcoming the team the chairman of the Club, Sandiip A Sethi informed about the club’s activities in promoting adventure sports and Cycling.
He said, the club has been holding annual cycle rallies since more than a decade.
The function was sponsored by Bee Enn Hospital which announced free eye cataract surgeries and Bone Density tests.
Kunil Bhalla, founder member of JASC flagged off Aditya Mehta and his team from Green Fields for his onward journey in presence of members Aparna and Vikrant Kuthiala; Neelam Bhalla, Sarla Kohli, Bhavana and Sandiip A Sethi; Prabha and Sudhir Kapoor; Tej P Broca and other guests.
