KATRA, July 9: Punjab Wrestler Jassa of Amritsar and Mallerkotla (Punjab) and Wrestler Abdul Gani shared the 16th Industrial Area (Udhampur), Battal Ballian Dangal title for the first malli bout which was played for 15 minutes at Industrial Area Battal Ballian Village Rathian, here. Both the Wrestlers were jointly awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,60,000.
41 bouts were played in one-day long Wrestling event. An amount of Rs. 4,10,000 has been incurred for conduct of this vishal Dangal. Swarn Singh contributed Rs 51,000 as financial assistance to the organizers.
2nd Malli bout was played between Benia Min of J&K Police of Basantgarh (Udhampur) and Shota Gani of Hoshiarpur. This bout also ended in a draw which was played for 25 minutes and both the Wrestlers were jointly awarded with cash prize of Rs.1,00,000. The 3rd bout was won by Wrestler Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House Udhampur who defeated Wrestler Sonu of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi.
The event was organized by Jai Baba Loundana Young Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
District Udhampur vice president NC Swarn Singh was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the Wrestlers, while former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma who is also President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and Vice President Indian Style Wrestling Association of India presided over the function.
Ravi Singh president Transport Union Battal Ballian, Varinder Badyal, vice president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Praduman Singh, District Joint Secretary NC and Sarpanch Sajjad were the guests of honour.
Sub Inspectors JS Choudhary, Jasvinder and ASI Angrez Singh were also present on the occasion.
