Jaswant Manhas’s Urdu book “Kumzarf” released

JAMMU, Oct 4: “Kumzarf” a collection of Urdu short stories written by Jaswant Manhas, a renowned and established fiction writer of Jammu & Kashmir, was released at a simple but impressive function here today.
The function was organized by Jammu & Kashmir Urdu Guild in collaboration with Prof Jagan Nath Azad Foundation India, Maikash Kashmiri Literary Society, Literary Cell of Teachers Guild J&K and Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Forum.
Prof Vijay Dev Singh, an eminent Urdu writer, critic and Director, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu, presided over the function whereas renowned writer, poet and historian, Wali Mohd Aseer Kishtwari was the chief guest on the occasion.
Amin Banjara, President Jammu & Kashmir Urdu Guild, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, chief organizer, Literary Cell of Teachers Guild J&K, Mohd Farooq Faraz Qurashi, press secresary Urdu Guild and author of the book Jaswant Manhas also graced the presidium.
Prof Vijay Dev Singh, in his presidential address, congratulated the author for his contributions in the field of Urdu language and literature particularly in Urdu fiction.
Wali Mohd Aseer Kishtwari in his speech said that Jaswant Manhas made a name for himself and as well as a known fiction writer of Jammu & Kashmir, through his short stories.
Earlier Amin Banjara, president Urdu Guild welcomed the guests and presented an introductory note on the fiction of Jaswant Manhas and highly acclaimed the literary works of former.
While compeering the function Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Wani said that Jaswant Manhas is a respectable name in the Urdu world of Jammu and Kashmir and his short stories are publishing in the highly acclaimed Urdu magazines and newspapers of India most often.
The gathering also condoled the sad demise of Ghulam Mohammad Ghamgeen, a noted Kashmiri poet, who expired on last Tuesday and prayed for the departed soul.
