Javed Ahmed of Jammu district claims gold in under 20 Sabre event

JAMMU, Mar 24: Javed Ahmed of Jammu district claimed Gold medal, while Koushal Sharma bagged Silver medal in the under 20 Sabre Men Individual event, organised during 11th J&K Open State Fencing Championship, which concluded today at Katra.
In under 12 Sabre Men individual event, Mayank Sapolia of district Kathua, Amit of district Udhampur and Kunal of district Reasi bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Senior Men Foil individual event, Gurusharan and Ranchan Sabarwal of Jammu district claimed gold and silver medals respectively, whereas, Tariq of district Udhampur and Dushyant of Jammu district shared bronze medals.
In Senior Men Sabre individual event, gold and silver medals were claimed by Vishal Thappar and Sagar Sahi of Jammu districts, whereas, the bronze medal was shared by Pardeep Kumar of district Udhampur and Nakul Sharma of district Ramban.
In under 20 Epee Individual men event, Teja Singh of Jammu district claimed gold medal, while Mohd Ismail of district Udhampur clinched silver medal. The bronze medal was shared by Pankaj of Jammu district and Mohd Muzamil of district Reasi.
In under 20 Sabre individuals girls event, Priya of Jammu district claimed gold medal, while Simran of district Udhampur secured silver medal. The bronze medal was conferred to Harpreet Kour of Jammu district and Mansi of Reasi district.
On the valedictory function, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Sports Minister was the chief guest, who presented medals to the winner in presence of MJ Sharma, president, IFS, Vijay Sharma, general secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Fencing Association, Amrish Magotra, president, Reasi Fencing Association, Jagdish, organising secretary and sports lovers.
While speaking, Taj Mohi-ud-Din applauded the efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Fencing Association for organising the championship.
He impressed upon the gathering to participate in sports activities, to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
Later, a cultural and entertainment programmes were presented by the students of Amba Kids School, Katra.
