Jawan injured, shelling on LoC

JAMMU, Mar 16: An Army man was injured in a landmine explosion, while Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control in Mankote sector of Poonch district today.
Reports said that the soldier identified as Sepoy Vishal Choudhary, 21, was on a routine patrol duty at Tarkundi area of Balakote in Mendhar sector, when he accidentally stepped over a mine near the LoC.
He sustained injuries and was being treated in a military hospital.
Meanwhile, the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged fire along the LoC in Mankote sector of Poonch district
Sources said that Pakistani army opened unprovoked firing and lobbed mortar shells on the Indian Army posts and civilian areas in Mankote.
“Own troops also responded the fire strongly. The cross-border shelling continued for about an hour,” they said.
However, they added, there were no reports of any casualty or damage on the Indian side in Pakistan’s shelling and firing.
