JAMMU, Dec 16: After receiving cold response from the State Government, Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of Government employees has announced three day strike programme on January 8, 9 and 10, 2013 in support of their pending demands.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, senior JCC members Khursheed Alam, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Mohd Gafoor Dar today said that after the observing a very successful two- day strike programme on December 14 and 15 throughout the State, the Executive Council of this body in a meeting held last evening, reviewed the over all situation and expressed concern over the attitude of the Government. It was observed that Government has literally failed to honour its agreement of September 15, 2011 and July 8, 2012.
The agreement was reached on the behest of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his political Advisor Devinder Singh Rana and Chief Secretary were also present in the meeting. The Government sought time up to September 30, 2012. The JCC leadership agreed and gave sufficient time to Government on number of occasions. Now, the criminal silence on the part of Government and its top functionaries, has indicated that they are provoking employees to resort to the agitational path. The employees realize the miseries of the general public in view of long strikes but the ball is now in Government’s court. If it is so serious and responsive it must honour the agreement. They said the demands including removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, regularization of daily rated/ consolidated and adhoc workers, release of pending wages and budgetary support to PSUs have remained un-resolved so far.
They said in view of indifferent attitude of the Government the JCC leadership has decided to go for three day Kam Chhorh Hartal on January 8, 9 and 10, 2013.
The Eemployees may go for indefinite strike if the Government remains unmoved. On first two days of the agitation, employees would hold protest demonstrations and dharnas at their respective offices throughout the State while on third day (Janauary 10), massive rallies will be held at Srinagar and Jammu besides observing general strike in Government and PSU offices.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Ganesh Khajuria, Jaswant Singh, Fayaz Andrabi, Kulwant Singh, Ghulam Rasool Gilani, Haji Bashir Ahmed, Arun Moza, Manzoor Pampori, Balwinder Singh, Molvi Muneer Ahmed, Ravinder Singh, Deva Anand, Nazir Ahmed Molvi, Rohit George, Dharminder Singh and Rajinder Kumar.
