JCC’s concern over power crisis, water scarcity

JAMMU, Aug 11: Jagti Coordination Committee (JCC) in its Working Committee meeting today has expressed grave concern over the shortage of drinking water and curtailment of electricity especially during night hours in the township putting the inmates to many hardships and problems in the hot and humid Summer.
The meeting accused the Central as well as State Government for neglecting the community altogether which was hounded out from Valley due to their follies right from 1947.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Bansi Lal and Ravi Zutshi. It said the ill treatment given to the Kashmiri migrants putting up in camps for over 22 years by the successive State Governments deserves strong condemnation.
The Jagti township inmates are deprived of the basic amenities like drinking water and electricity, the meeting said, adding that though the coordination Committee took up the issue at highest corridors of power at Delhi and in the state but nothing was done to mitigate the sufferings of the inmates of Jagti Township.
The JCC also warned those trying to harm the community interests by way of creating hurdles in PM’s package. They said this way these people were trying to debar the community youth from taking advantage of package. The JCC also made an appeal to all community leaders to come on a single platform to fight for its rights unitedly.
The meeting also criticized the Government for its failure in restoring the encroached land of the community in the Valley and took it to task for betraying the community by adopting delaying tactics on passage of Temples and Shrines Bill.
The meeting also expressed grave concern over lack of proper transport facilities in Jagti township and alleged that despite the assurances the authorities have failed to meet the demand.
