JAMMU, Aug 20: Subash Singh, a member of JDA Employees Union who was on fast until death from August 18 was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu after his condition deteriorated yesterday. He was replaced by Manchal Singh a daily wager of the organization who is on continuous fast since then in support of the demands of the Union.
The Union in a handout issued here, today said that no decision was taken by the JDA authorities to break the deadlock. It said that the Union has also submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Jammu for settlement of the demands.
The Union is demanding appointment of the beneficiaries under SRO 43 as per the norms adopted by the other departments like Local Bodies, Muncipal Corporation, Housing and Urban Development Department who issue appointment order within three months time for the next kin of the employees who die in harness.
The Union said though JDA is also a wing of Housing and Urban Development Depart-ment, the said rule is not applicable there which is a cause of concern for the employees of the organization.
