JAMMU, Aug 7: Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today removed illegal structures and retrieved 50 kanals of land at Sidhra.
As per official spokesman, to continue anti encroachment drive against the encroachments and illegal constructions, the Enforcement Wing of JDA launched massive anti encroachment drive in Sidhra and Majeen and removed several unauthorized construction/pacca houses, plinths and retrieved about 50 kanals of JDA land from the clutches of land mafia/land grabbers. The land value is around 40 crores.
He said that the operation was conducted by the enforcement team on the directions of Vice Chairman JDA RK Shavan and under the supervision of Director Land Management Davinder Singh Katoch. The team comprised of Comprising of Collector Land Acquisition JDA Narinder Kour, Chief Khilafwarzi Officer, Pankaj Singh Sambyal, Tehsildar JDA Zone (B) Dr Zeba Suleman, Naib Tehsildar JDA Chand Mohan Singh, Khilafewarzi Inspector Romesh Kumar, Farid Hussain, Executive Engineer Anil Pandohi and Chief Enforcement Officer Dr Rehana Bijli.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Vivek Gupta provided full police assistance and SDPO Nagrota and SHO Nagrota assisted the anti encroachment team and provide full cooperation to the enforcement team of JDA.
It is pertinent to mention that the Divisional and District Administration had also noticed illegal constructions last week in Sidhra and the Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma had desired immediate action by JDA against the encroachers, spokesman said, adding that before conducting the operation many opportunities were given to the encroachers to remove the encroachments at their own level but they failed to do so.
Vice Chairman has directed the Khilafwarzi team to keep round the clock surveillance in an around Jammu and thwart the attempts of encroachers. In a statement the VC said that the JDA has decided to issue notices to all encroachers with a direction to vacate the encroachment at an earliest failing which the said will be done at their cost after imposing high penalty. PDD and PHE Department are being asked to snap the illegal connection of electricity and water.
