JDA resumes anti-encroachment operations in Sidhra

JAMMU, June 13: After a halt of two days owing to procedural delay, the JDA again resumed its drive of anti-encroachment against the land mafia in Sidhra.
It is pertinent to mention here that in compliance to the orders of Division Bench of High Court, the JDA has started a major crackdown against the land mafia and encroachers of State/JDA land in and around Jammu.
According to the Vice Chairman JDA, this operation against the land mafia at Sidhra was halted for two days owing to some procedural complexities. However it has been again continued and every inch of State/JDA land will be identified, demarcated and retrieved back. He said that Khilafwarzi section under the command and control of Director Land Management JDA has been directed to act tough against the encroachers irrespective of their influence or status. They have further been instructed to lodge formal FIRs with respective Police stations, in case they are influenced, obstructed or deterred to perform their legitimate duties.
It is also equally important to mention that the land was acquired in Sidhra for constructing Satellite Township of Jammu Development Authority but the same has been allowed to be encroached over a period of time with the active support and nexus of JDA resulting into crores of loss to the State and in JDA
The Deputy Chief Minister, J&K, who is in-charge Minister of Housing & Urban Development Department, has also instructed JDA to retrieve all JDA land and take strongest action against the land encroachers.
The anti encroachment drive was supervised by Vice Chairman, JDA, Director Land Management & Collector JDA also were personally remained stranded at the site throughout the day and they were assisted by local police deployed by concerned higher police officers.
