NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Jeera futures prices today declined by 0.53 per cent to Rs 13,105 per quintal as traders engaged in reducing their exposure on expectations of higher output and supplies from the new season crop.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April drifted by Rs 70, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 13,105 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,651 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in the March lost Rs 60, or 0.46 per cent, to trade at fresh low of Rs 13,040 per quintal in 10,935 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in jeera prices at futures trade to off-loading of positions, triggered by hopes of higher production and supplies from the new season crop.
Jeera is a winter crop, sown from October to December and fresh supplies start arriving in February. (PTI)
