JAMMU, Sept 30: Losing to the formidable side of Delhi in the summit clash by eight homes to one (8-1), the J&K men’s team claimed second place in the North Zone Softball Men and Women Championship at Parwanu, Solan in Himachal Pradesh today.
Meanwhile, State’s women team failed to make any mark in the Championship.
The highlight of the Championship was J&K’s splendid win against the defending champions Punjab by 5 homes to two in the semifinal clash earlier.
For J&K, Vishal, Sachin, Rasik, Harvinder, Rakesh and Ankit displayed a better show throughout the tournament.
The J&K team is being accompanied by Rohit Jamwal and Rawat Singh as coach and manager respectively.
Meanwhile, Chaman Lal Bhat, general secretary, J&K Softball Association has informed that J&K’s Vishal Sharma has been selected for the India Camp to be held at Agra from October 15, 2012, where from the India team would be picked for the forthcoming International Softball event to be held in Japan.
