JAMMU, Dec 2: The J&K Bank Academy Jammu qualified for the final of the Jammu Gold Cup Under-19 Football Championship being organised by the Young Hero’s Football Club in collaboration with J&K Sports Council at Mini Stadium, Parade here today.
Sailing on the brilliant performance from Hirdesh Sharma, Bank Academy made it a big 6-0 win against Udhampur City Football Club in the first semi-final. Hirdesh struck in the seventh, 10th and 37th minutes of the match to help the side take four goals lead in the first half of the play. He was later declared man of the match.
Aditya opened the account for Bank Academy converting a penalty into a goal in the very third minute of the play. Other two goals came through Paras, who netted the ball in the 23rd and 69th minutes of the match.
Meanwhile, Dream Football Club Poonch upset Param Football Club beating latter 2-4 in the quarterfinals. Talented Sukhmanveer Singh scored his second hattrick, with first being against Hero Club, striking in the 27th, 31st and 49th minutes of the match. The first goal came in the fifth minute through Saiful Ahmed via penalty.
Earlier, organisers felicitated veteran footballer and office bearer of J&K, Shiv Pal Sharma for his contributions towards the game. Shiv was chief guest in today’s matches. The matches were officiated by the technical penal including Rickey, Satnam, Arjun, Dilbahadur, Dheeraj Meenia, Rocky and Bilal Ahmed.
