JAMMU, Aug 5: J&K Bank Academy smashed Shaheen Football Club in the summit clash by solitary goal and lifted the title trophy of the 2nd Vishal Heer Memorial Football Tournament, held at GGM Science College ground, here today.
In the first half, Prem Kumar of J&K Bank Academy netted the first goal of the match in the 26th minute. Shaheen Football Club tried level best to equalize the score, but failed and the first half ended with 1-0 goal.
In the second half, Shaheen Football Club continued to raid the goal on the side of opponent J&K Bank Academy but could not score the goal and thus lost the match by solitary goal. The yellow card was shown to Sunil Sayal in the 75th minute of the game.
On the valedictory function, the chief guest was Dr Vinod Kumar, SP City, who presented cash reward of Rs 31,000 to the winning team and Rs 21,000 to the runner-up team. Gulshan Kumar was adjudged as ‘Upcoming Player’.
Sheikh Mehmood, Kailash Chibber, SM Gill, Kuldeep Singh, Surinder Singh Bunty, Mohan Lal, Devi Dass, Ramesh Chander, Charan Dass, Narinder Gupta, Festus Sotra, Yousuf Don, David Masih, Rohit Kumar, Tushar Heer, Pankaj Kumar, Rajesh Sumberia, besides many others were present on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Vijay Kumar, Suresh Gupta, Ricky Kumar, Dil Bahadur and Rohit Kumar Gupta.
The tournament was organized by Harbans Lal in the memory of late football player Vishal Heer, who died on October 15, 2013.
