J&K Bank drubs Air India, lifts All India Super Sports Society Football Cup

JAMMU, Jan 27: The thrilling final match of All India Super Sports Society Cup between J&K Bank and Air India was decided via tie-breaker, in which J&K Bank emerged as winners.
Speaker Legislative Assembly Uttar Pradesh, Surinder Singh was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed the cash awards and trophies among the teams.
Both the teams were unable to open the score though the game was played in full momentum from the word go.
After the stipulated 90 minutes of play, the match was decided in tie breaker in which J&K Bank converted 4 out of 5 kicks whereas Air India scored only 2. Shabir Ahmed goalkeeper of J&K Bank was adjudged the best goalkeeper and Prem Kumar was given man of the match with a cash award of Rs five thousand each.
It is not out of place to mention here that J&K Bank team played this tournament in absence of their top 7 players who are assigned with the responsibilities of representing State Team in upcoming Santosh Trophy. J&K Bank Team during this Tournament defeated prfessional teams like SAIL Bokaro in quarterfinals, Deccan Rovers in semifinals and Air India in the final.
Chairman Sports Board, Surjeet Singh Sehgal, Vice Chairman Sports Board, Roshan Khayal and Secretary, Showkat Khanyari congratulated the team and Management for this performance.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, J&K Bank defeated Deccan Rovers Pune by a solitary goal. Striker Prem Kumar scored the all important goal for J&K Bank in the 7th minute of the match. The score line remained the same till the end of the match, thus J&K Bank won by the same margin.
