SRINAGAR, Aug 27: Carrying on with its tradition of making the roots of football strong in the State, J&K Bank Sports Board today recruited six new players for its football team following the three day open selection trials held at Kashmir University ground from August 25 to August 27, 2014.
The selection was held after the prior advertisement notice and was open for players from all over the State. For the trials around 50 players who had represented State at various National level competitions turned up. On August 25 selection committee comprising of JK Bank Sports Board Secretary Showkat Ahmad Khanyari, Coach Manzoor Ahmad and Member Sports Board Rajesh Chandra shortlisted 20 out of 50 players. On second day of trial it was shortlisted to 12 and on last day six players were shortlisted who will represent team in the upcoming events.
“Our aim during trials was to give maximum chance to anyone who has turned up for trials. In order to get best players among those we had to extend selection process one day from the original two days,” said Showkat Khanyari.
In senior category, Azhar Ali, Shahid Mushtaq and Taufeeq Ahmad were recruited, while as in junior category Rohit Kalsotra, Muneeb and Faisal Thakur were recruited. All the players will be playing for JK Bank-A team in the ongoing league.
