JAMMU, Nov 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Basketball Association (JKBA) flagged off men’s and women’s teams for the 39th Youth National Basketball Championship, scheduled to be held in Kolkata from November 29 to 5 December.
The teams consist of players selected from various districts across the Union Territory. During the send-off ceremony, the teams were screened by the J&K Sports Council (JKSC).
Dr. Vikram Handa, President of JKBA, lauded the efforts of district units in promoting basketball and nurturing talent. Rudra Jamwal from Udhampur will captain the men’s team, while Pranavi Sharma from Jammu will lead the women’s team. Coaches Sushma Jamwal and Sachin Dogra will guide the women’s and men’s teams, respectively.
The ceremony was attended by Aman Sharma, General Secretary JKBA, Ashok Singh Jamwal, Vice President, and Baljinder Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, JKSC. Players and the JKBA expressed their gratitude to the J&K Sports Council for their continued support in developing basketball in the region.
