JAMMU, Aug 24:
The host Jammu and Kashmir men’s team defeated Andhra Pradesh but lost to Haryana on the opening day of the four-day Inline and Roller Hockey National Federation Cup Championship underway at Maulana Azad Rink Stadium here today.
As per the results, in Inline Hockey event, Jammu and Kashmir senior men team outclassed Andhra Pradesh in an almost one-sided affair by 8-2 but in the second match, they lost to Haryana by 2-4.
In other matches (senior men’s category): Chandigarh beat Rajasthan 3-0; Punjab beat Telangana by 6-1.
In the senior women category, Chandigarh beat Telangana by 10-1 and Punjab beat Haryana by 1-0. Meanwhile in the Roller Hockey event, J&K senior men’s team draws with Uttar Pradesh 3-3, Haryana beats Tamil Nadu 9-1 and Punjab beats Haryana 20-0. However, in the senior women category, Punjab beats Haryana in a one-sided affair 8-0.
The championship is being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Roller Sports Association under the patronage of Roller Skating Federation of India. As many as 350 skaters from ten teams are participating in the championship being held from August 24 to 27. Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are among the participating teams. (UNI)
