J&K Boys emerge champion, Girls finish runners-up

JAMMU, May 21: Jammu and Kashmir Boys team emerged as National champion whereas Girls team finished runners-up in the recently concluded T-20 Junior national Tennis Ball Cricket Championship at Agra (UP).
The J&K Boys team remained unbeaten in the National Championship and finally defeated UP in the finals by 10 wickets. After winning the toss, the UP Boys team set a target of 58 runs in the allotted quota at the loss of 7 wickets. J&K Boys thrashed the UP bowlers and successfully chased the target of 58 runs in just 3.5 overs without losing any wicket and lifted the T-20 National title for the first time and thus, created a history in Tennis Ball Cricket.
Girl’s team of J&K also showed a splendid performance and qualified upto finals of the national Championship. Tamil Nadu set a target of 87 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and J&K Girls were all out on just 72 runs and lost the finals by 16 runs. Thus, Tamil Nadu lifted the National Championship title in the girls section and J&K finished as runners-up.
Midhat Jan, Captain of J&K Junior Girls team was the star performer in the entire national Championship while in Junior Boys section, Ubair Lone of J&K was the star performer. He scored 56 runs in the finals and was declared as Man of the Match as well as Player of the Tournament for his outstanding batting performance.
