NEW DELHI, Nov 26: The Jammu and Kashmir State participated in the India International Trade Fair 2013 being held at Pragati Maidan here.
Jammu and Kashmir State Day was today celebrated at the event and inaugurated by Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Farooq Ahmad Factoo. The fair as such has assumed status of an iconic event and the participation of the state through J&K Pavilion has become a distinctive feature in the fair.
Director Handicraft, Director Industries & Commerce Jammu/Kashmir, Managing Director Handicraft Corporation, Managing Director JKI and Secretary KVIB and other senior officers of the State were also present on the occasion.
The main attraction of the State Day was cultural programmes of all three regions of the State performed by the artists of Department of Cultural Academy J&K. This programme depicted the diverse cultural ethos of J&K state which attracted large number of people, who applauded the artists performing at the stage. The programme proved a unique one to showcases the rich diverse cultural heritage of the state to the people, across the globe.
On the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce appreciated the coordinated efforts of J&K Information Department and J&K Cultural Academy for making the event successful.
On the other side thousands of people thronged the J&K Pavilion where stall holders displayed their commodities and show cased their talent and skill of indigenous art and crafts of the state having worldwide recognition.
