JAMMU, Dec 16: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) registered a thrilling 5-wicket win over Andhra Pradesh in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy, securing their place in the knockout stage at 22 Yards Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Chasing a target of 225, J&K’s top and middle-order batters played vital roles, with Rubia Syed and Bismah Hassan leading the charge. Despite a tough spot in the last 12.4 overs requiring 78 runs off 76 balls with 5 wickets in hand Rubia and Bismah held their nerves. The duo formed an unbeaten 78-run partnership to guide J&K win in 48.5 overs.
Rubia top-scored with a dynamic 51 off 43 balls, including 2 fours and 4 sixes, while Bismah remained not out on 28 from 34 balls. Other key contributions came from Chitra Singh Jamwal (31), Skipper Jasia Akhtar (31), Bawandeep Kaur (24) and Rudrakshi Chib (20).
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh posted 225/9 in 50 overs, thanks to a brilliant 116-run knock from Henrietta Pereira. Bismah was the standout bowler with 5 wickets for 45 runs, supported by Chitra Singh Jamwal (3 wickets). Rubia Syed was the most economical bowler, conceding just 21 runs in 10 overs.
Rubia was named Player of the Match, while Bismah received the match ball for her exceptional 5-wicket haul.
