J&K defeats Chhattisgarh by 9-1, qualifies for quarterfinals

72nd All India Police Hockey C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 3: On the fifth day of the ongoing 72nd All India Police Hockey Championship organized by J&K Police, five matches were played here today.
In the opening match of the day between Telangana police and Puducherry police, the match was won by Puducherry Police by 4-3 goals. The scorers were S Nanda Kumar (1st goal), 2nd & 3rd goals scored by V Karthikayan and 4th goal scored by Karpaga Rastihiran. Player of the match was declared A Nagarajan and Chief Guest of the match was Reyaz Iqbal Tantray- Dy. CO, IRP-16TH Battalion.
In the second match between West Bengal and Jharkhand, the match was won by West Bengal by 3-2 goals. The scorers were Praful Dungdung (1st goal), 2nd goal scored by Santosh Rajbhar, 3rd goal scored by Sukhen Barman. Player of the match was declared Theodor Baa. Rajni Sharma-SP, IRP-1st Battalion was chief guest on the occasion.
In another match between Kerala and CRPF was won by CRPF by 7-0 goals. The scorers were Ignacius Toppo (1st, 4th goal), 2nd goal scored by Saroj Ekka, 3rd goal scored by Lovepreet Jainth, 5th & 7th goal scored by Samsher, 6th goal scored by Rabindra Kujur. Player of the match was declared Lovepreet Jainth for his brilliant performance. Suram Singh-SSP, CO JKAP-8th Battalion was chief guest.
The match between BSF and Tamil Nadu was won by BSF by 5-1 goals. The goal scorers were Hatinder Singh (1st & 2nd goal), 3rd goal scored by Amit Saroha, 4th goal scored by Harminder Singh and 5th goal scored by Sharanjit Singh. Player of the match was declared Kanwarpal Singh and Chief Guest of the match was Kulbir Chand Handa-SSP Dy.CO, IRP-18TH Battalion.
In the final match of the day was played between Chhattisgarh Police and Jammu & Kashmir Police. The match was won by Jammu & Kashmir Police by 9-1 goals. The scorers were Skinder Singh (1st goal), 2nd goal scored by Manpreet Singh, 3rd & 6th goals scored by Prabjot Singh, 4th goal scored by Satwant Singh, 5th goal scored by Gagandeep Singh, 7th, 8th & 9th goals scored by Vishal Deep Singh. Player of the match was declared Vishal Deep Singh for his brilliant performance. Chief Guest of the match was Shaheen Wahid-SSP, Dy.CO, 1st Women Battalion. Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Police team has also qualified for the quarterfinals.
