J&K defeats Minerva Club by 196 runs

JAMMU, Sept 14: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) delivered a stellar performance in the 29th All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament 2024, securing a commanding 196-run victory over Minerva Cricket Club at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium here today.
J&K set a formidable total of 267 runs in their 50 overs by losing 7 wickets. The innings was anchored by a brilliant performance from Suryansh Raina, who scored 91 runs off 105 balls, including 13 boundaries. Irfan ul Haq contributed a quickfire 53 runs off 26 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Kanhaiya Wadhawan added 52 runs off 69 balls, and Nasir Lone remained unbeaten on 30 runs from 43 balls.
Minerva Cricket Club struggled in their reply and was bowled out for just 71 runs. Agni Chopra top-scored for Minerva with 24 runs, while Jovanpreet Singh added 17 runs. J&K’s bowlers showcased disciplined performances, with left-arm spinner Sarvashish Singh and right-arm off-spinner Uday Pratap Singh each taking 3 wickets. Skipper Shubham Singh Pundir claimed 2 wickets, while Mujtaba Yousuf and Nasir Lone took 1 wicket each.
The J&K team, led by Head Coach Punit Bisht, and supported by Kavaljeet Singh (Bowling Coach), Sameer (Bowling Coach), Guru Pratap Singh (Trainer), and Rehman (Physiotherapist), will face the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Colts next on September 16 at PCA Stadium, Mohali.
