J&K, Delhi secure wins in Legend Masters 2.0 tourney

JAMMU, Feb 15: Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi emerged victorious in the ongoing Legend Masters 2.0 Inter-State Veteran T20 Cricket Championship held at MA Stadium, today.
The event saw Gourav Gupta, BJP Spokesperson, as the chief guest and Kashish Khosla, Marketing Head of SMVDNSH Katra, as the guest of honour. The tournament is being organized by the Veteran Cricket Association J&K in collaboration with the Excise Department J&K, Batra Group, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital and Horizon Group.
During the occasion, Gourav Gupta lauded the Veteran Cricket Association J&K for their efforts in organizing the tournament and providing a platform for veteran players. He emphasized that such tournaments not only motivate young players to stay away from drugs but also highlight that age is just a number.
In today’s match, J&K defeated Hyderabad by 38 runs. J&K’s captain, Vivek Suri, won the toss and elected to bat first. The team posted a total of 181/6 in 20 overs, losing 6 wickets. Vikram top-scored with 49 runs, while Amit and Abhishek contributed 27 and 19 runs, respectively. For Hyderabad, Captain Prakash took 3 wickets, and Venktesh claimed 1 wicket.
Chasing 182 runs, Hyderabad was restricted to 143/7 in their allotted overs. Vishwajit and Adi Narayana were the top scorers for Hyderabad, with 46 and 32 runs, respectively. For J&K, Nazar was the standout performer with the ball, taking 4 wickets, while Vivek, Sumit, and Kuldeep each took 1 wicket. Nazar was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ for his brilliant bowling performance.
In the other match played under lights, Delhi veterans triumphed over Hyderabad by 6 runs. Delhi won the toss and batted first, posting 156/8 in 20 overs. Sagar (38), GS Harry (35) and Rakesh (32) were the key contributors with the bat. Hyderabad’s Alluri Sri Dhar took 2 wickets, while Prakash, Sanjeev, and Venktesh each claimed 1 wicket.
In response, Hyderabad’s chase fell short, as they finished with 150/7 in 20 overs. Vishwajit (55), Nayeem (24), and Adi (21) were the top scorers for Hyderabad. For Delhi, Rakesh and Shekhar shared 1 wicket each. Rakesh’s all-round performance earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
