JAMMU, Nov 20: The central body of All J&K Diploma Engineers Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its President Er Upinder Singh, in which large number of Diploma Engineers from various engineering wings participated.
While addressing the meeting, Er Upinder Singh urged upon the Government to honor its commitment held out to the association in a high power meeting with regard to the demands of the DEA, especially for removing the stagnation of Diploma Engineers at the level of Junior Engineer by evolving a mechanism whereby every Diploma Engineer get a promotion, enhancement of fixed traveling allowance which is presently Rs 30 per month, maintenance of cadre strength at every level by strictly adhering to the 20 per cent quota earmarked for Diploma Engineers in all the engineering wings releasing 72 posts of Assistant Engineer in PDD and 29 posts of AE in (R&B) mechanical under the carrier progression scheme on the analogy of PWD R&B civil and hydraulic wing.
He urged the administration to speed up the matter so that already sulking cadre gets a sigh of relief as most of Diploma Engineers are retiring without availing a single promotion in their entire service span.
