J&K on driver’s seat against Goa

JAMMU, Nov 27: Splendid 6-wickets haul by pace sensation Rasikh Salam and superb ton by Kanaihya Wadhawan (117) coupled with magnificent unbeaten 78 by Musaif Ajaz and valuable 36 runs by Kamran Iqbal helped Jammu and Kashmir to earn vital first innings lead and be on the driver’s seat against Goa in the ongoing Cooch Behar U-19 Boys Cricket Tournament, being played at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today.
Earlier on day one, Goa bundled out for 182 runs as Rasikh Salam wrecked havoc, scalping 6 important wickets by conceding 39 runs in his 15 overs. Javiad took 2 wickets while Govind Sharma claimed 1 wicket.
On second day of the match, J&K started with 63 runs for 3 and at one stage J&K were 101 for 6. After that Kanhaiya and Musaif played sensibly and scored record partnership of 185 runs and also manage to take the first inning lead. Musaif playing his debut U-19 match remained unbeaten on 78 runs whereas Kanhaiya scored brilliant 117 runs. At stumps on day two, J&K were at 290 for 7.
Rithvik Naik was pick of the bowlers for Goa who took 6 important wickets.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) JKCA Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari and member JKCA Jung Bahadur Singh Jamwal congratulated the team for this performance.
It is pertinent to mention here that the National Selector of Junior Cricket Selection Committee Debashish Mohanty, a veteran test cricketer is camping in Jammu to watch promising J&K cricketers in action.
