JAMMU, Jan 3: Jammu and Kashmir eves lost to Assam in a close contest by 3 wickets in the U-15 Women’s One Day Trophy at Sanosara Cricket Ground Rajkot.
Earlier, batting first, J&K scored a modest total of 118/7 in 35 overs. Manya Banotra top scored with 32 runs off 40 balls, studded with 6 boundaries, while Shambhavi Rajput contributed valuable 26 runs off 28 balls including 5 boundaries. Skipper Ayati Sadotra scored 17 runs off 39 balls with 3 fours.
Khushi Kumari was the wrecker-in-chief for Assam who took 4 wickets, while Akansha Shandilya bagged 3 wickets.
In reply, Assam chased the target in 31.5 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Skipper Khushi Kumari top scored with 49 runs off 63 balls, studded with 9 boundaries, while Samadrita Saha contributed 24 runs the total.
For J&K, left-arm seam bowler Sheetal Devi was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 21 runs in 6.5 overs, while right-arm medium pacer Sania Slathia bagged 2 wickets by giving away 21 runs in 7 overs.
