JAMMU, Mar 18: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association State team excelled in the 34th Junior National Taekwondo Kyorugi/Poomsae Championship at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
The Championship was organized by Taekwondo Federation of India and the State team was sponsored J&K State Sports Council.
Living up to its reputation, J&K team came out with flying colours by winning 3 bronze medals in girls section.
Chairman, J&K Taekwondo Association, Anil Gupta (Annu) lauded the efforts of the players and their coaches for this achievement.
President JKTA,P C Sharma, general secretary, D N Pangotra and vice- president, Nisar Hussain also congratulated the medal winners and praise on secretary J&K State Sports Council and Director General, Youth Services and Sports,Navin Agarwal for allowing officials, Atul Pangotra, International Referee and Brinder Singh, National Referee to take part in the Championship.
Earlier, J&K Taekwondo Association had organized 5-days special coaching camp prior to its participation, under the coaching of Atul Pangotra (NIS) coach and Commonwealth medalist. He shared his vast experiences with the team and finally helped the girls team to win 3 medals for the first time. The medal winners included Pooja Sharma, Pallavi Dingra and Ashima. Rajan Singh Jamwal accompanied the team as coach.
