JAMMU, Jan 2: Fencers from Jammu and Kashmir have made a significant impact at the ongoing 35th Senior National Fencing Championship (Men & Women) 2024-25 in Kannur, Kerala. The fencers showcased their exceptional skills, earning three individual bronze medals in their respective events.
Vishal Thapar and Shreya Gupta both competed in the Sabre event, while Shivaansh Kapoor participated in the Epee event. All three fencers delivered stellar performances, surpassing their opponents with skill, precision, and determination, ultimately earning bronze medals in their categories.
The fencers’ participation in the prestigious event was approved by the Screening Committee of the J&K Sports Council, and they were accompanied by Bisham Slathia as coach and Rahul Sharma as manager.
Nuzat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, congratulated the medallists, praising their hard work and dedication. She wished them continued success in their future endeavours. The J&K Fencing Association (JKFA), along with senior coaches Rachna Jamwal, Shotu Lal Sharma, and fellow senior fencers, also extended their congratulations to the talented athletes for their remarkable achievements.
