JAMMU, Jan 13: Fencers from Jammu and Kashmir made a remarkable mark at the 19th Cadet (U-17) National Fencing Championship (Boys & Girls) held in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, from January 8 to 11.
In the individual Sabre event, Subhanaya Sharma clinched a bronze medal and, based on her outstanding performance, was selected to represent India in the upcoming Junior and Cadet Asian Fencing Championship, which will be held in Kuwait next month.
The Girls Sabre Team, featuring Subhanaya Sharma, Bhavya Jamwal, Eknoor Kour, and Amadhya Vermani, displayed excellent teamwork and determination, securing a bronze medal for J&K. Their skillful play and coordination helped them outshine their opponents.
The J&K Fencing team participated under the banner of the J&K Fencing Association (JKFA), with the support and screening of the J&K Sports Council. The team was coached by Maninder Pal Singh, Adarsh Slathia, and Rahul Sharma, while Surjeet Kour served as the team manager.
