J&K Fencers to represent India in World University Games in China

JAMMU, July 24: Jammu and Kashmir Fencers maintaining the momentum of excelling at an International level by getting selected in World University Games to be held at Cheng-du China from 28th July to 8th August.
Selected fencers are Javed Ahmed Choudhary, Mayank Sharma, Rishika Khajuria and Riya Bakshi who are leaving today for the international event. The official statement said that this is the third time Javed Ahmed Choudhary is participating in World University Games and their selection has been on the basis of their performance in All India Inter University Championship and trials thereof by Association of Indian Universities followed by coaching camp at GNDU, Amritsar.
The team is leaving for the event on 25th July which will comprise participation of about 100 universities all over the world. All the fencers are playing under the umbrella of J&K Amateur Fencing Association and product of MA Stadium coaching centre, Jammu.
The statement said secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull has lauded the efforts of fencers for getting selected at this prestigious platform and reiterated the support of sports council in ensuring all required facilities to the hardworking and performing sportspersons of J&K UT.
President of J&K Amateur fencing Association Nisha Sharma appreciated the selected fencers and hoped they will bring laurels for the country and J&K UT. She also appreciated the role of Sports Council coaches who are working very hard to bring the best out of them.
